A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the role of a Support Worker in the Darlington area. We are looking for a flexible, driven, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual to work with our client who is in his fifties, who sustained an acquired brain injury in recent years.
The role involves providing prompts, reminders and supervision to the client so that he can engage in valued activities in the community such as swimming, archery, axe throwing and air-rifle shooting at a local firing range. The role will also involve researching community activities and planning tasks and activities with the client.
We are seeking an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to follow clear plans set out by rehabilitation professionals. Applicants require an empathetic and dynamic approach, and the ability to maximise the client’s choice and control over his activities.
The ideal candidate will have interests in holistic therapies, outdoor activities and cooking.
No personal care is required. Car driver with own car is essential. Appointment will be made following successful 2-stage interview and in line with the company’s safe recruitment policy. Successful applicants will be subject to an “Enhanced” DBS check.
Whilst not essential, experience in working with brain injury is desirable. Successful applicants will receive full training and supervision from the case manager and other professionals where required.
