A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the role of Support Worker in the Darlington area. We are looking for a flexible, driven, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual to work with our elderly client, who sustained a traumatic brain injury.

 

The client lives independently with a 24 hour support team on a 2:1 basis during waking hours and 1 staff member overnight.  Sleeping nights are paid in line with National Minimum Wage (currently £12.71 per hour).    

 

The role involves providing prompts, reminders and supervision to the client so that he can engage in activities of daily living and in addition to this, supporting him to access community activities. 

 

We are seeking an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to follow clear plans set out by rehabilitation professionals. Applicants require an empathetic and dynamic approach, and the ability to maximise the client’s choice and control over his activities.  Ensuring the client has access to activities is an integral part of the role.

 

Our client requires support with personal care.  A car driver is essential and will be required to drive the client’s vehicle.  In addition to the supporting role, applicants will be required to have some IT experience for recording of information.

 

Appointment will be made following successful 2-stage interview and in line with the company’s safe recruitment policy.

 

Whilst not essential, experience in working with brain injury is desirable. Successful applicants will receive full training and supervision from the case manager and other professionals where required.
